Actually, you don’t need any tools for your two minute to do lists because if it takes less than 2 minutes you do it right away.
However, there are times when you can’t get to it right away, but a 2 minute to do pops into your mind. “I need to take out the garbage,” you think, on your drive to work.
For those times, there are a few to do list applications online that you can use. Here are my favorites:
- Backpack
- Ta-Da
- Remember the Milk
- Things (for the mac)
All of these apps have online access, aswell as iPhone apps, for those savy 2-minuters on the go.
I have tried all four, put prefer Backpack. Yes, they have a free version, but you have to search around for how to get the free account instead a paid one: look for the links underneath of the normal signup table.
I’ll post more on tools and apps at another time, but I am trying to keep the post times within about 2 minutes.

What about the tasks from the gmail labs? I haven’t played around with it too much, and I’m not sure about how accessible it is online, but anything by Google is usually a good idea
Thanks for the suggestion, Saqib. Yes, most things Google are good. And also integrated with your gmail.
I also use Gmail’s “Tasks” and I prefer it since it is so simple and integrated with my e-mail, but for anyone who doesn’t have a Gmail account will be left out.
Currently working on a way to update my todo list on my home PC from a php script. This really only counts as a 2 minute todo list if you already have a web accessible place to host the todo list and php file. Here is how I plan to do it:
I have xampp installed so I have a way to access my home PC and run php scripts.
The text file would exist in some folder in the htdocs folder and would be updated via some php script (not yet written…I’ve been to lazy)
The contents of the text file would be drawn on to my desktop via Rainmeter.
I guess this is a bit more than a 2 minute todo list for most people since most people don’t have xampp and Rainmeter installed.
Installing xampp does not take long (but you have to port forward your router). I would estimate that portion to take about 5 minutes…not including install time.
Rainmeter will take a while for you to customize to your liking. Life hacker shows lots of nicely customized desktops. This would work just fine without Rainmeter since you could just open and read the textfile. In fact that would be best if you only need Rain meter for your todo list. XAMPP is a bit more necessary.
This lifehakcer post shows you how to set up the enigma Rainmeter skin http://lifehacker.com/5124643/enigma-desktop-customization-update-now-available
I must say @thebadtouch09, that is one *complex* to do list! However, if it works for you, and keeps you productive, more power to you.
